Queen Anne Day 17

Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Moored a short distance from us was an interesting looking vessel. It was a real classic, and reminded us of the Royal Yacht Britannia. We couldn’t find her name on the Cruise Mapper App, so she was probably out of service. She was certainly past her prime, but she still looked very stately. Ship design has definitely changed over the years, mostly for the better, but it is still lovely to see those old beauties out there. Queen Anne is a visual delight inside, but her exterior just doesn’t have same elegance.

We had had a great day in Tenerife last year, and were undecided as to what we wanted to do for this visit. I took to my computer to see what our options were. It was a bit late to book an organized tour.

As it turned out, we never actually came to any decisions, and after a wonderfully lazy day on the ship, the next thing we knew was that it was all aboard time, and we set sail for La Coruna.

There is a new show at the Bright Lights Society, Fizz, and we had booked the early show. It’s not as good as Noir, and there is less audience participation, but it is still very enjoyable, The 2 dancers were absolutely amazing, but the lady sitting in front of me in the front row of seats seemed to be petrified that she was going to be kicked in the face by them. Needless to say no one was assaulted during the performance, but I must say I was glad I was sitting behind her.

Fizz is certainly not the best of shows, but the cast are very talented, and very enthusiastic. It is great to have several options for evening entertainment.

We decided that our late evening entertainment would be in the Commodore Club. The secret to being there at night is finding the right lighting. Some chairs are in complete darkness, others make you feel like you are under a spotlight. However, there are some where the lighting is perfect. You can read the menu, but do not feel you are on the stage. You can hear the music while looking out into the darkness surrounding the ship. It is a great way to end the evening. Especially listening to that great classic Mind Benders song, Groovy Kind of Love. I loved it back in the day, I love it now.
