Queen Anne Day 11

At Sea

May 13th, 2024

Yay, another sea day 

The maintenance man reappeared first thing in the morning, accompanied by another man, and they quickly opened up the panel and started to work on the heating/cooling situation.

We went up to the Commodore Club. We were the first people there, so I took the opportunity to take some photos with it empty. It is very popular so there are usually other passengers there.

The bar is right at the back, and doesn’t have any seating at the bar, which I know will be disappointing for some who are used to spending their evenings sitting on the bar stools of the other Commodore Clubs.

The walls leading up to the Commodore club are a bit bare, but I expect with time they will be filled with plaques commemorating the ship’s maiden visit to ports around the world.

Churchill’s is right next door to the Commodore Club, but there is never any smell of smoke from there.

The Admiral’s Lounge is next door to Churchills,

And has lovely flowers on the ceiling.

Next to the Admiral’s Lounge is the Boardroom.

The 2 rooms are connected, so that the doors between them can be opened up to make one larger space.

There is a lovely open deck space next to the Boardroom, which looks like the ideal spot for private parties in good weather.

On the other side of the ship is the children’s area, and the Library.

The library is small, and can’t compare with the libraries on the other Queens, but it is a very nice, calm space

With a work space with a view.

All in all, deck 12 is very nicely laid out, with good use of available space.

I had to leave the peace and calm of the Commodore Club and explore the launderette.

The deck 8 launderette is quite large, with 4 machines.

Unfortunately only 2 are working. 2 are already out of service. Not a good start.

There are free laundry washing sheets, and so far plenty of baskets in which you can take you clean clothes back to you stateroom.

I was amazed that I was the only person in the launderette, so there was no chance to catch up on ship gossip. However, it was pleasant not to have to wait for a washer and dryer.

My only problem is that the dryers are quite high up, and there was no way to see if I had anything left in the dryer. They need a stool for the average woman to stand on to make sure she hasn’t left anything behind. I tried jumping up and down, but that failed. So I ended up standing on the laundry in my basket and I did get a glimpse of the inside. Good thing too, there in solitary splendour was one of Brian’s socks. I reached in and was able to rescue it from forever being separated from its partner.

Tonight was the first production show on Queen Anne, Let’s Dance. I was excited to see it. The production shows on Princess had been so wonderful. Would this show compare to them?

Not only are you not supposed to take and videos or audio recordings of the show, you are not allowed to take any photos, so alas I can’t post any.

The show was visually stunning, the dancing was excellent, the costume changes amazingly slick. All in all, it was a good show. Not the best I have seen, but it was their opening night, and it may take a while for the show to gel.

There is a projection backdrop that is so realistic that on one occasion I couldn’t work out if there was a real pianist and string players on stage, or was it just part of the set. It really is very impressive, sort of like virtual reality in my opinion.

When we returned to our stateroom, the maintenance men had departed, and the temperature was perfect. They had done good work, and we were able to enjoy our new room at last.

    Whew –
So happy the temp is under control … “some like it hot”
    but that was beyond tropical.
I will miss the bar stools but they can always add some later on ?
All in all it looks like an updated modernized Queen that’s come into her own in the 21st Century.
It will be a nice contrast to her elegant but old fashioned older sisters. Keep on enjoying

I also wonder if they will add bar stools in the Commodore Club. The bar is a bit out of the way, but I think it could still work. I have sooo many suggestions to make!
