At Sea

December 13th, 2024

A quiet day at sea.

We attended several talks.

I must say the standard of the “conversations” has been excellent, and the talks we may have missed are available on the TV in our suite, so we are getting well educated. Hopefully learning good information for future trivia competitions.

Speaking of trivia, today was the last day of the current series of competition. Our team, “Still Thinking” didn’t do that well, but we had a good time. We didn’t always get the correct answer, and sometimes we were way off, but it is such fun to see if we can come to a consensus on what different members of the team are suggesting. Working through all of the options when we haven’t got a clue, and finally coming up with something that could possibly make sense, can be a challenge. Even if it is totally the wrong answer, the process of reaching an agreement is always great, and then if we do get a correct answer, that’s a reason to celebrate! Every member of our team has a lot to offer, and there are no huge egos which makes reaching a consensus a pleasure. Yes, I have really enjoyed it. The fact that I get to drink a glass of champagne whilst I am still thinking about the answer is also a plus. We came in 4th out of 11 teams, not too many fewer points than the winning team. Way to go team!

It had been raining on and off all morning.

This is not a good for the planned caviar by the pool. However nature was kind to us, and it did stop raining just in time.

Georgia was there handing out the caviar – unlike the previous time we were on Sojourn where the amount of caviar served seemed to be very limited, today there seemed to be a never ending supply.

There were also fancy drinks

And great music.

It’s things like this that Seabourn does so well. It is wonderful that the officers also attend these events and mingle with the guests. And Captain Hamish always looks sooooo cool.

Tonight was the Seabourn Club members’ cocktail party.

Not surprisingly there are a lot of Seabourn Club members on board, but we have run into people for whom this is their first cruise with Seabourn. I’m not sure I would like to spend 90 days on a ship belonging to a cruise line I have not sailed on previously, however, the folks we have spoken with seem to be having a good time. I certainly am, and I did enjoy the party. Having the party in the Grand Salon does mean that it is difficult to mingle, but at least you are sure to get a seat. And it is so easy to mingle on this ship at other times. Of the 230 people on board, I feel that I have met at least half of them. What’s more I like them all.

As always the entertainment was great!

Steve Stevens was the entertainer this evening. He is one of those rare comedians who can be very funny, but no one in the audience could take offense at his jokes. He is never smutty, and very cognizant of the fact that he has many different nationalities in his audience, and we all seem to have a slightly different sense of humor. Somehow, he just nails it. He is not a bad musician either!
