DAY 27 – January 31st

With the numerous passing squalls this morning we decided to opt for the Commodore Club rather than the open decks. Many other passengers clearly had the same idea. The place was packed, however we were able to get a window seat eventually. Yay! They serve fancy coffees here in the morning, and they seem to be very popular.

For the most part all of the passengers are polite and friendly. The laundry has actually been an acceptable chore, with no outbreaks of launderette rage when I have been there. There have been a couple of incidents of nastiness over trying to get too many people into the lifts. However, the most contentious arena has been the Lido. There have been outbreaks of toaster rage when some one grabs someone else’s toast. I tried to mediate at one such outburst to calm everyone down, only to have my very own piece of toast stolen during the process. I’m not going to risk that again. The worst episode of Lido rage was when someone bumped into someone else at the juice machine. Easily done on a rocking ship. I really thought a fistfight was going to break out. Some people really do need to act right. After many years at work telling people to act right, it is so hard for me not to get into work mode and tell them to get a grip.

The storms passed over, and the afternoon was sunny again, so we decided to grab sun loungers next to the Pavilion Pool. Although it was a bit windy, it wasn’t too hot, and turned out to be a good way to spend the afternoon. Looking like a drenched rat I really wasn’t dressed to go to the Queen’s Room, or even the Chart Room for afternoon tea, so I opted for the Lido. Bad idea. They had the most delicious beef and mushroom pasties as well as the usual fare. Four pasties later I was full, but suddenly out of nowhere an éclair leapt on to my plate. The Lido really is a dangerous place.

Stay at sea, Cruisers, as long as you can! The political situation at home in the US is devastating. The sea seems a far better choice!

Happy belated anniversary to you both. Hope you enjoyed your special day.
Your Amazon trip sounds amazing – tho I think I expected it to be just jungle and a few homes and villages – no large cities! Wish we had been there to see a t but enjoying your descriptions.
Glad safariboy’s foot is getting better. Is he dancing yet? Ax

Thanks! We had a great anniversary, and are continuing to love being on board, although we are currently taking a side trip to Iguassu Falls. Alas, no dancing just yet…………
