At Sea

February 8th, 2025

The last of our 6 in a row sea days. Quite honestly, I am loving it, although I am looking forward to Benin tomorrow.

When I stopped by Seabourn Square this morning I saw a flyer for Valentine’s Dinner Under the Stars. Now, that sounded interesting. I do love dining al fresco, and this sounded like a wonderfully romantic way to spend the evening on Valentine’s Day.

I eagerly looked at the menu. Wow, 5 courses of what sounded like fabulous food, including king crab legs, paired with very interesting wines. I am sure the regular Valentine’s Day menu in the Restaurant will be really great, but this was very tempting.

I thought of signing us up and seeing if our friends would join us. Then I looked at the price. $500 per person. Dinner in the restaurant was looking much more appealing. I don’t think we will be doing that.

Each segment of the cruise those of us who are on for the whole 90 day Grand Africa voyage have been treated to some kind of celebration. They have been fun, and I was excited when the invitation arrived for the one this segment.

The Spa Serene Area on deck 9 sounded like a wonderful place for a party. And the reminder invitation was so pretty, and it will be a pink martini cocktail party.

So at the appointed time we were all dressed up and ready to head to deck 9 to party. The Serene Area is very pretty, and I thought it was the perfect place for a party.

The snacks were delicious, but I shunned the rather vibrant looking pink martinis in favor of champagne.

And the view was great. I just love looking over the wake.

We all had a fun time

However, it was HOT. Even as the sun sank lower in the sky, it was still uncomfortably hot.

Mind you, with a view like that, who could complain?

I could have stayed watching the sun set and enjoying the view, but all too soon the party was over, and it was time for dinner.

I do love it when we have a singer for the evening show. Leanne Mitchell performed tonight.

She has a beautifully powerful voice and it was a real treat to hear her. She was yet another victim of lost luggage, and who knows when her luggage will finally catch up with her. She seemed to be dealing with the matter very well, at least she had packed her dress in her carry on bag. Good thinking!

She was accompanied by the Band.

They are truly amazing musicians. It always sounds like they have been accompanying the singers for the longest time, you would never think that this is the first time they have performed together. That is true professionalism. We are so lucky to have them on board!

Las Palmas, Gran Canaria February 19th, 2025 We are back in Europe! I must say that the port didn’t look very exciting, and there were no souvenir stalls in sight, no dancers or drummers, no cranes or rusty ships, just a very non-descript dock....
