At Sea

February 12th, 2025

We have found a place for the latest towel creature, but our suite certainly cannot support another creature.

The question is, when can we dismantle it without offending our suite attendants? I Googled towel creature etiquette. I am clearly not alone. There had been much discussion, but no clear directives. Some said you kept them for you whole cruise. Some said you dismantled them that night and left the towels on your bed the next morning. One said you dismantled them and then used the same towels to make a towel creature of your own and present it to your attendants.

None really described how long you should keep them to avoid looking like you really don’t care for them, even if in fact you don’t care for them.

So after much research I am none the wiser. So we will have to keep it on the little table for now, and should it disintegrate, or another creature appear, then we will dismantle it. Case closed.

At Team Trivia today we didn’t do very well, as usual. The Herald today contained the recipe for the yummy breadsticks they serve on board. The bonus question was list the 7 ingredients used in the recipe. Of course none of us had really looked at the recipe, so this was quite a challenge. After much discussion we listed flour, yeast, salt, sugar, water, eggs and oil. We felt confident. But alas we were wrong. There is butter instead of oil! Who would have thought of that. I looked at breadstick recipes on line, and although the majority of them did have oil, there were a few that used butter. Something to be aware of if you are lactose intolerant.

John, the fleet cruise director,  has been trying to come up with new challenges to keep guests entertained on sea days. He had previous;y tried out his version of Wheel of Fortune on us, and some (rather competitive) people had not been happy with it, so today he tred a new version of it.

This one went down better, although the very competitive team still did not win, so there were more complaints. Maybe there will be yet another version before we reach Barcelona.

We went to the Observation Bar after dinner, and enjoyed sitting there listening to Robert who was playing the piano instead of the guitar today, and chatting to fellow guests.

Gradually as the evening wore on the bar filled up, and became quite lively, with shots being consumed. It was a fun evening. I am really going to miss being on board when we have to leave the ship in Barcelona.

Las Palmas, Gran Canaria February 19th, 2025 We are back in Europe! I must say that the port didn’t look very exciting, and there were no souvenir stalls in sight, no dancers or drummers, no cranes or rusty ships, just a very non-descript dock....

Sojourn Day 81

At Sea February 18th, 2025 It is so interesting. I looked out the window this morning and the Atlantic looked as smooth as a mill pond. However, the ship is still pitching, and walking around is a challenge. All very strange. The deck crew were...
