At sea

At least today was less strenuous than yesterday.

It was very cold in the Observation Bar this morning, so we chose to move to the Club. So instead of the view of where we are going, we had the view of where we had been.

They look pretty similar.

Whenever we have been in the Club previously it has always been rather busy, especially during trivia. So, it was nice to really get a good look around.

Here is where our trivia team “Still Thinking” sits. Our name came from the fact that like some of our answers, we were still thinking when the time came to name our team.

I popped next door to check out the Casino. Not much going on there at the moment. I don’t think I have ever seen the Casino busy.

Walking back to our suite to get some laundry done I saw one of the amazing singers in the corridor. I couldn’t resist taking a photo of him!

One of the Grand Voyage perks is free laundry. Yay to not having to spend the day waiting for a washing machine and then doing battle with it when you eventually snag one. However, there are some items that I like to wash myself so today was the day to try out the launderette.

They are very conveniently located on deck 5 a short walk from our suite. There are actually 2 launderettes, one on the port side and one on the starboard side, each has 2 washing machines and 2 dryers.

When I arrived laundry bag in hand both machines were available, the machine I chose worked perfectly, so all in all my first experience with washing on this ship was a success. But I do miss the laundry room gossip. How else do you find out what it happening on the ship? I just don’t think chatting to strangers at the Club sushi bar is going to be as useful.

At dinner in the Restaurant, we sat with our friends and 3 other guests we had invited to join us. It made for an interesting evening. Some of the newcomers managed to insinuate politics into the conversation. I must admit I may have started it by making some comments about the way Medicare funds psychiatric care. Well, it kind of deteriorated. Up until now the unspoken rule has been not to get too heated about the political state of the world. Still, it did make things different, and the newcomers are very interesting people. I just prefer dinner to be a more easygoing event.

Tonight, the Seabourn 6 sang and danced their way into our hearts. Their performance really doesn’t compare with the production shows on larger ships, but their singing and dancing is great, and the choice of music is just the genre that I love. The band is also great. I decided I was OK with not having the big flashy production shows like we saw on Princess. The Sojourn productions are the sort of show where you head off to your suite humming the tunes to yourself as you walk down the corridor.

Another plus is that there are no throngs of people vying for lifts at the end of the show. It is so easy to access your suite, especially as we are just one deck down and a short walk down the corridor from the stairs.

Yes, we are not on Queen Mary 2 and there is no way I am going to get my million steps in unless I exert myself (unlikely to happen), but Sojourn is such a joy to sail on in terms of convenience of all of the venues and our suite.
