At Sea

December 26th, 2024

Today was the last day of team trivia for this segment. We had a good day and ended up coming in second over all for this segment, much to our surprise. Go Still Thinking! I was very chuffed with our prize – a Seabourn backpack. Yay!

One of the other trivia teams (the winning one) is losing 2 of its members in Cape Town tomorrow and tried to steal 2 of our members. Fortunately, our teammates were having none of that and will stay faithful to Still Thinking.

When we go to the Restaurant, we have loved looking at the amazing Christmas decorations in the atrium, made by the crew. The winner of the crew Christmas decoration competition was announced today. All of the decorations were really great, but Ethan’s got the most votes, so he won. It was my favorite too – a very constructive use of old menus.

This afternoon there was the Epicurean and Team Member salute by the pool. We were entertained by Nick and the Band and were treated to delicious canapes while we showed our appreciation for all of the amazing crew members who have made this segment of our cruise so perfect. They are all stars.

It was also an opportunity to say goodbye to Derek and Georgia from the entertainment staff (standing next to Captain Hamish)who will be disembarking in Cape Town. The 2 of them exude such energy and professionalism, they are a joy to be around. We will really miss them, but I am happy that they will get to spend some time with their families.

We were partying by the pool again after dinner. It was a bit chilly out on deck, but we were provided with blankets to help keep us warm when we weren’t dancing.

It was also a chance to say goodbye to the wonderful people we had met on the cruise who will be disembarking tomorrow.

I am so glad that we still have another 2 months on board. It always feels good when you return to your suite and see all of the suitcases out in the hall, and you know that none of them are yours. Your suitcases are under the bed in your suite, and they will stay there for a while. That makes me so happy.

Las Palmas, Gran Canaria February 19th, 2025 We are back in Europe! I must say that the port didn’t look very exciting, and there were no souvenir stalls in sight, no dancers or drummers, no cranes or rusty ships, just a very non-descript dock....
