At Sea

The last sea day – and finally we are seeing some rough weather. Not the sort of thing where water is splashing over the windows in the Commodore Club, but enough for you to know you are on a ship.

I spent the day packing up the 2 suitcases that Brian will be taking back home, and organizing the things that will be moving with me back to our original cabin.

I have done my best to stay in this cabin, but there are no options, tomorrow I have to move. Marisol, our room steward is fantastic, anticipating our every need. If I have to move, I wish she could move with me.

Usually the shows on the last evening are earlier than on other nights, and involve performers that we have seen before, but tonight was the premier of “Pride and Prejudice, sort of”.

Now I have always been a huge Jane Austen fan, and I do get a bit put out when productions of her novels really miss the mark as far as I am concerned. However, we say a very innovative  production of Pride and Prejudice on Queen Mary 2 several years ago, and I was looking forward to seeing what this one was all about. Especially as our friends had seen a horse that is involved in the play galloping around the Promenade deck a few days ago. What could that be all about?

Well, I will have to wait and see whether I like this production or not, and Brian will have to miss out. The leading lady had a fall during rehearsals and sustained a minor head injury. Thus the show was canceled. I felt so bad for the leading lady and hoped she was doing OK (Neil said she was), and I felt bad for the rest of the cast. Hopefully all will be well for us to see a performance on the next voyage.

Luckily the Flyrights agreed to perform again, and as usual it was a wonderful show. Quite honestly I think they were a much better choice for the last night of the voyage, they always get people joining in and dancing, and you feel so happy when you leave their shows and sing your way to the lift. It is kind of a nice way to end a cruise.

So then their show was over, and all that was left to do was walk to the front of the ship and take the lift up to deck 12 to have one last chocolate affair with Brian.

It really has been a wonderful 3 weeks, and I am so looking forward to the next 2 weeks and the naming ceremony, but I will miss being with Brian. But being the very civil minded gentleman that he is, he is flying back home so he will be back in time to appear for Jury duty. Good man.

Tomorrow as Brian is making his way to Heathrow, Deirdre will be joining me for the next 2 weeks. Kim declined to join us. I am hoping that it really will be a memorable voyage, and even if all of the festivities turn out to be a huge let down, just being on Queen Anne is certainly wonderful.
