Until about 2 months ago I had not really thought about the new cruise line, Explora Journeys. Yes, I had been inundated with their marketing materials, but I must admit that I get sooooo many marketing emails on a daily basis, all of their promotional material went into the trash.
Then a friend told me that they were going on a cruise on Explora 1. My friend has an excellent taste in ships, so I decided that I really needed to learn more.
The more I read about Explora Journeys, the more I liked. New, smaller, all inclusive ships. Diverse itineraries. Beautiful interior design. An infinity edged pool and 5 whirlpools. Amazing food. Yes, this was sounding interesting. Then I heard – a Dyson hairdryer, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot in your suite on embarkation. Yes, this is my kind of cruise. Will I miss the half bottle of Pol Acker in our fridge on arrival in our suite? I think not. I was now VERY interested. Will I miss the noon whistle on Queen Mary 2? Well, that might be a problem. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. Maybe it was time to try something different.
Then my fate was sealed. I was lucky enough to meet Kaitlin Krueger, the business relationships expert at Explora Journeys. She was amazing, and after talking with her, I knew what I had to do. They may not be Cunard, but it was time to experience the cruise line for myself.
So that’s how we have ended up with a plane ticket to Miami on December 12th, and we will be boarding Explora 1 on December 13th. Let’s see what this Explora Journeys stuff is all about
Good luck – reviews are mixed. But apparently food is exceptional – no chart room though!
It will certainly be different I am sure – hopefully we will find a bar we like, and they will make Milky Way Martinis!
Thanks for keeping me on your list. I loved your comments in April from QM2.
We did the 5 week voyage after yours, back to NY on June 30th, 2023. On July 3rd my
husband went to the hospital with heart failure. We had to cancel the Xmas and world QM2 voyages
as a result. We are 84 and love Cunard and sailing. While you are young just keep taking ocean voyages
until you cannot do so anymore. Keep sharing your adventures with us.
Eternally grateful for your sharing all with us.
Oh no! I am so sorry about your husband’s health and having to make those cancellations, but I am glad you got to do the 5 week voyage onQM2. Hopefully you will be able to sail again 🙂
