At Sea
Nine sea days in a row – followed by Tahiti. Life doesn’t get much better than that. Some people are complaining about it, but especially if the sun comes out, I am very happy.
I checked the daily program to see if beading was at the same time – and horrors, there was no sign of beading, but instead there was a craft class on Bow Ties and Basic Crochet. I was sure that Julia, the beading lady, was disembarking in Sydney, but when I asked about her whereabouts I was told that she had left the ship yesterday, So much for me being able to enhance my beading skills. I asked if we could bring her back by popular demand, but seeing as I was the only popular demand, it is unlikely this would happen alas. I was not in the mood for Bow Ties, so tried instead to attempt to access the Internet. It is being ridiculously slow at the moment – one hour later I still hadn’t uploaded 2 days worth of blog, or paid the electricity bill. Hopefully it will be better later this evening.
Last night in the Lido there was a very well behaved, very, very cute little 2 year old also having a very late night snack. It’s great to see a small child enjoying themselves on the ship!
I decided that I would devote the day to looking for Roscoe, of Cruise Critic and wonderful blog fame. I have failed in that mission so far, but the segment is yet young. I decided instead to see if the shops had become any more inspired while we were in Valparaiso. They had not. It is so sad that there is so little commemorative world cruise merchandise there. I would love to have a tea towel that said Queen Victoria World Voyage 2017 and a map of our itinerary on it, but such an item does not seem to exist. I will just have to be happy with my purchase today of a very generic tea towel that has the Cunard Logo, says World Voyage 2017, and has a map of the world, but no itinerary or ship’s name on it. I suppose they made the same tea towel for all 3 World Voyages, and I shouldn’t complain, but when I am drying dishes on a cold and rainy day, I would have liked to be using a tea towel that commemorates MY world voyage, rather than the whole fleet’s voyage. My purchase made, it was time to search for that elusive Roscoe again.
I didn’t find Roscoe, but we do have a new couple at our dinner table, Alan and Pam from Australia. They have not been on Cunard before, but so far seem to be settling in well. So we have a full table again.
Tonight’s show was a pair of Scottish lads, the MacDonald brothers. The programme had said they played the mouth organ, but thankfully they didn’t during this show. No bagpipes either. Then it was time to visit the Commodore Club again for a Chocolate Affair. These are not as good as Milky Ways, but are still a nice way to imbibe chocolate.
We had Godiva chocolates on our bed again – maybe this is the new way for QV too.
Safarigirl, I left you a message on your post before this one about how to find Roscoe. I promise you will find him in the morning if you read that message. Cheers, Patti
Thanks Patti – despite our best intentions, we didn’t get out of the cabin until 11 this morning (those comfy beds again!), but we will look for him tomorrow!
Finding Roscoe – he usually holds court in the Corinthian Cafe at 9 each morning. Well, that was his form on QV last year. If you find him tell him the Aussie Pavlova Queen says hello! By the way really e joking your blog. Brings back memories of our 72 days on QV last year. Best wishes. Christine
Thanks – we will try to be up by 9!
