At Sea

How on earth could we have been cruising for 6 weeks already? I want to slow time down, it is simply whizzing by too fast.

The sea was calm, but it was too cool and windy to sit by the pool. We stopped by to congratulate Juliana on her new position and have a chat. Then we went to check in with Deidre and Kim. They were heading off to the Senior Officers’ Party. We were a bit put out that we hadn’t been invited. During the 3 segments we have done, we were not invited to it on the 1st segment, were invited on the 2nd segment, and were not invited on the 3rd segment. I have heard that you only get to go once during the whole voyage, but still I hate to miss a party (although I must confess we did miss the previous one), and several people have been to all three.

We retreated to the Commodore Club, but no sooner had we settled in than we were thrown out of there. There was to be a special event happening, to which we again had not been invited. However, I think you had to pay for this event. Feeling really rejected, we decided it was lunchtime and went to the Lido. The whole morning had just disappeared.

I had a nap all afternoon, and then because the show was early, it was time to get ready for the show and dinner. Not a productive day, but I did learn something.

I had noticed that the lifts ding when they arrive at your floor. What I didn’t know is that there is logic to the dinging. One ding means the lift is going up, 2 dings means the lift is going down. I have been on this ship on and off since 2008, and never knew that. You do learn something every day, even if you are not trying!

Because tomorrow is a disembarkation day, the show was early. First was the comedian John Joseph, who is quite funny, and then the Brit Tones who I love. I am sorry that they are getting off the ship tomorrow.

After dinner we fought our way down the corridor to our cabin. There is the very sad sight of suitcases everywhere. I am so glad that we are staying on the ship, but it is an evil reminder that one day our 4 suitcases and 1 duffle bag will also be obstructing someone’s path to their cabin.
